Richard is one of the few swimmers who will ask you in a literal sense,
"What can I do more to become a better swimmer?" Day in and day out, he will
ask me if he can use the heaviest medicine ball, can the interval be a
little harder, can he swim faster on this one. He not only strives to
become better but he is also there for the other teammates. If I am
working with the youngest group when Coach Deana is not present, he will
lead them in stretches, make sure they are doing drylands, and give
encouragement. He also is helping with making the corrections needed for
the new guys on the team. I have seen him on occasion show the proper way
to use medicine balls and bands to Drew and others. He is an inspiration
in my opinion and a great model to follow after. If I asked him to jump
he would most likely reply "how high and where". He is a great kid to be
around and will make anyone laugh when they are down.
